Sojourn Arts Reading Group will meet on Tuesday, April 17th at 7PM at 504 E Oak St. for our second listening party and discussion led by Katelyn Farris, who selected Work Songs by The Porter's Gate Worship Project.
"After convening in June 2017, The Porter’s Gate released a worship collective entitled Work Songs: The Porter's Gate Worship Project Vol. 1.The purpose of The Porter’s Gate Worship Project is 'To start a movement, a soundtrack for faithful, welcoming presence in our broken world.' Just as a porter seeks to invite outsiders into the gate, Christians are called to invite everyone inside the doors of the church and into the body of believers.
Presenting 13 modern hymns centered on affirming vocation as fundamental to a life of worship, Work Songs: Vol. 1 explores the meaning of inviting work into worship and bringing worship into work. Featuring artists such as Audrey Assad, Liz Vice, Josh Garrels, the album creates music designed to welcome all, with musicians representing various cultural backgrounds, denominations, races, and artistic styles. The Porter’s Gate Worship Project recognizes the importance of music in community, and invites deeper discussion of our inspirations, aspirations, thoughts, and ideas surrounding identity and vocation." - Katelyn
