Join artist Sarah Martin on Friday, September 14th at 7PM as she shares about her work, Meeting Expectations, with a spoken word performance by Sherita Donald. Free, all ages, and open to the public.

In Meeting Expectations, Sarah Martin transforms herself into the woman single Christian men desire. We see her conversations with men found on Christian dating websites and we see her self-portraits and video performances as she tries to be who they want her to be. 

Meeting Expectations raises all kinds of issues related to dating and gender expectations in Christian circles for both men and women. Our hope in sharing this work in the context of Sojourn's church-based art gallery is that it would start conversations leading toward healthier desires and expectations between men and women. Through self-reflection and conversation, we hope we can all learn to better relate to one another.
